A week of downs and ups......

This week my precious one returned to school, after 8 weeks off during the summer.

Way back in July Neves school closed its doors for the last time. She has now started in a purpose built all singing all dancing special needs school, it is a lovely place, but I was worried about her settling as she wasn't going to be with all of her previous classmates, her transport to & from school changed.  So we were told her bus would collect her at 840am but then on Monday morning the bus arrived at 8.05am needless to say we BOTH were still in our PJs.  So I took Neve in on her first day.  She returned home via transport and was visibly upset.  The following morning as soon as she saw the bus off she went head rocking and fingers in ears displaying classic Neve anxious behaviours, I was uneasy about her going to school on this new bus with a new driver and new escort... but thought like any child Neve is going to take a bit of getting used to the change.  Tuesday afternoon Neve was LATE LATE home, but when she returned she was on the bus that used to transport her from her old school.  She was happy......

Wednesday brought the phone call, that we've waited 9 months for.... the bungalow we have been waiting for is finally empty.  Going to view it on Monday and hopefully sign as soon as possible after that.

So with the move in mind, Ive had the Mr digging plants and shrubbery out of the garden this weekend and putting them into pots ready for the move.

Ill blog again as soon as I can but with the move going on, I dont know when we will lose internet connection here in our current home or when it will be reinstalled in our new home..... but Im sure I'll return with plenty of tales of the move....

When my little one was 5 weeks old she was taken into hospital, as she was "failing" to thrive, she just simply could not put weight on, it used to take me an hour sometimes and hour and a half to get 1oz of milk into her and more often than not she would then be a little bit sick afterwards.  In hospital they ran numerous tests, first they thought she had a tumour in her tummy, so she had bloods done and an x-ray of her tummy - they found nothing except that she was suffering gastro-oesophageal reflux. Peapod - update

Im sure you know that Peapods name isnt actually Peapod, but its what she was called when we first found out I was pregnant and its just kinda stuck. Peapod, is now 5 years old, yes FIVE years old, how did that happen? only seems like 5 minutes ago I blogged about finding out I was pregnant with her, she has just finished her reception year at primary school and is looking forward to starting year 1 in a few weeks time. Her school teachers always comment that she is a quiet but polite little girl who is kind to her friends but is also quite shy and needs a bit of encouragement in new situations. She was born with congential hip dysplsia, and was placed in a pavlik harness in the hope that 6 weeks in that wuld cure her hip dislocating all the time, however it took a futher tendonotomy, and She has an old head on her shoulders and often says things that sound very strange coming from a 5 year old. for example a few weeks ago she was over heard saying to her uncle "I've t...

Confessions.

I've read lots of post/blogs recently  from other special needs mams, and I've often thought they are really quite spot on but I've always said I would write my own one day. 1. I will walk the long way round.  Ok I know it's not often I walk anywhere, but when I do I go out of my way to stay off main roads because Neve cannot cope with traffic noise well. Life with a disabled child means going the long way around everything in life.  2. I cry and feel guilty about it.  I don't cry often but when I do it can seem to be over the smallest most insignificant thing, but please know that I need to cry once in a while and ok I might cry off and on for 12 hours but I will be better after a huge sobfest.  3. I have lost friends. Friends I thought would be there for me, but I also have found out who my real friends are, friends I might not see for months on end but I know if I rang them up and needed them they would listen and be there for me.
